Nineteen infections in total have been detected in Regional Victoria, including one in The Greater City of Geelong.  With 392 new locally acquired COVID 19 cases, also came the decision to suspend Victorias regional train services. More than 180 drivers and operational staff have been forced into isolation following four staff members testing positive for COVID 19.

Department of Transport ……..“Out of an abundance of caution we are suspending all trains on Sunday to limit the spread and to keep everyone safe”

Of all the new cases announced today, 255 were from the city’s north and another 89 were found in the western suburbs.  The health department confirmed that 107 of the cases were linked to known outbreaks, with the remaining 285 still under investigation.

In total this brings the number of active cases in the state to 3112, with all but four locally acquired.

The state today have 147 people in hospital, four up from yesterday.  Thirty-Four in intensive care and 28 attached to a ventilator.  You have to ask yourself, why out of 147 people, 147 people in hospital, why, why was only one of them fully vaccinated.

Speaking to the media on Saturday morning….Mr Foley said “There were no plans to put regional Victoria into lockdown”.

“Like everything, it all depends on not just the numbers, but the story behind the numbers,” he said

The message here is abundantly clear, remain vigilant and get tested at the first sign of COVID-19 symptoms, however mild. Wear a mask at all times when you leave the house, or are around strangers, and keep disinfecting your hands.
