Stakeholder Council appointments reinforce GRI’s commitment to global representation and public-interest governance

Renewed leadership has been confirmed for the multistakeholder advisory body that helps guide the future direction of GRI, underscoring its global and cross-sector representation at a time of rapid change for sustainability reporting.

Louis Coppola, Co-Founder of the Governance & Accountability Institute, has been confirmed as new Chair of the GRI Stakeholder Council – with Adekemi Adisa, General Manager Sustainability & Shared Value, MTN Nigeria Communications PLC, taking on the role of Vice Chair. Their appointments come with one month remaining in GRI’s global recruitment call for new members to four of its governance bodies.

The Stakeholder Council advises the GRI Supervisory Board, Management Board, and Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), and comprises at least 15 individuals spanning global regions. It ensures that diverse perspectives inform the organization’s priorities as sustainability reporting evolves.

Bringing together voices from business enterprise, investment and financial institutions, civil society and academia, service providers, labor, and the public sector, the Council embodies GRI’s multistakeholder strength and commitment to serving the public interest.

GRI’s multistakeholder governance structure supports the organization’s strategic planning, decision-making and operational delivery.  Applications remain open until 2 August for new members of the Stakeholder Council, Supervisory Board, GSSB and Due Process Oversight Committee.
