DOMAINE CLARENDON Syrah 2013 Clarendon $29.00 (original price)

8 years old, would have easily done 10+, the first thing you can’t help to notice is the depth of colour its black, pitch black, black as soot. For a wine labeled Syrah I personally expect a lighter style of wine.
This was rather big, really the words I wanted to use are ‘Outstanding’, ‘Heady’, ‘Stunning’, ‘a Ripper’ ‘a Ball terra’.
Yes, I liked this wine I drank it over two days as it was slow too show what it had to offer.
But as it opened up there was hints of liquorice, chocolate, very ripe but not over sweet wonderful handling of fruit. The wine was fruit rich with fresh cedar oak hints at the foreground.
I have been a big fan of this wine for the last 10 years in fact I rate this wine over his top wine Clarendon Hills Astralis Syrah.
Don’t get me wrong the Clarendon Hills Astralis is a stunning wine, but in most cases I won’t live long enough to drink this wine at its best.

Warning: if you drink this wine under 8 to10 yo I think you will miss most of the flavours and joy I have described, so good luck keeping the cork in. ‘O’ yes its under cork if it goes under stelvin closure I fear it will take 15 to 20 years before you can enjoy it.
