GLENELG SHIRE MONITORING THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

Coronavirus

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is working around the clock with health services, the Commonwealth and international agencies to respond to the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to keep the Victorian community safe.

Council is closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak to ensure that we are best prepared to respond to any suspected or confirmed cases within our community.

What is coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new virus that can cause an infection in people, including a severe respiratory illness.

The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.

What council programs/services/events have been affected?

Protecting the health and safety of our community is Council’s top priority. We are closely monitoring all health updates and are responding to important Federal and State Government directives to reduce social contact to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Vaccinations

Both Portland District Health and Casterton Memorial Hospital are running COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics for the community.

Dates will vary according to supply, and bookings are essential.

Appointment options at Portland District Health
1. To secure an appointment call 5521 0352. Leave your details and contact number and staff will return the call within 24-48 hours, or when there is an available appointment based on supply.
2. Register your details at https://bit.ly/pdhvax2021
3. Email vaccination.pdh@swarh.vic.gov.au
4. Another option is to ring Active Health Portland on 5522 1200 and book an appointment for your vaccine.
