MCi Carbon is pleased to announce a collaboration with Hatch to support the engineering, technoeconomic assessment and commercial deployment pathways for MCi’s mineral carbonation technology.
Hatch is a global engineering, project delivery and consulting firm with extensive experience supporting major industrial projects and emerging decarbonisation technologies. Through the collaboration, Hatch will support MCi in the development of commercial-scale mineral carbonation projects, including feasibility studies, engineering, plant development and project delivery planning.
MCi Carbon’s technology uses mineral carbonation to permanently bind CO₂ into solid materials, producing low-carbon materials for use in industrial and construction supply chains. The collaboration with Hatch is intended to support the development of robust, scalable and commercially deployable project pathways for this technology.

In June 2026, Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen officially opened Myrtle, the world’s first ‘carbon refinery’, at Kooragang Island, Newcastle. Together, the two milestones mark MCi Carbon’s shift from validated technology to commercial-scale delivery, with Hatch now supporting the engineering and delivery planning behind that next phase.
