THE COCKY WHO BECAME UNLOCKIED

“MY COCKY BROKE THE LOCKY AND I THINK HES JOINED THE FLOCKY”

Kidnapped cockatoo Jacko has returned home safely to a Drysdale hardware store following a widespread public appeal for information on the beloved bird.

The theft of Drysdale’s icon “Jacko” prompted a desperate plea for his safe return from Hardware store owner Ben Garvey.

Jacko was discovered missing on Sunday after the store nursery manager Katrin Neocli, arrived to find his cage had been broken into.

After viewing CCTV footage, from a Murradoc Road Store, the footage clearly showed an unknown man walking away with a cockatoo neatly tucked under his arm at around 9.16pm on Saturday night.

The yellow crested cockatoo believed to be 23 years old, had lived at the store for 13 years.

Jacko a clear favourite with customers and children who visit the store, requires specialist medical attention due to a previous injury.

Jacko the real charmer, he talks, he dances when he is excited, is an attention seeker, and will happily sit on customers shoulders or just go for a walk around the store.

Mr Garvey says /- Jacko loves the ladies………..

Mr Garvey just wanted Jacko back and was happy to pick him up from the thief, and not have the person charged  or named, no questions asked.

The police as well as the store owner urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

Well, the moral to the story…….

Jacko has been found and is safe once more in the arms of Mr Garvey, oh the things he must have seen.

Store employee Brett Christie was on COVID marshal duty when a lone woman pulled up and told the staff member that Jacko was on the back seat of her car in a box.   She claimed that she got him back off the guy who stole him.

She told the employee that she was sorry and that the gentleman who took Jacko was also sorry.  She didn’t want to name him [probably because she knows he has been seen on CCTV footage anyway] but they realised that many people were upset he was missing and decided to do the honourable thing for all concerned and return him.

The store was ecstatic to see their beloved bird back.  At quick glance, Jacko looked as though he hadn’t been harmed in any way, actually he was just happy to be home and be able to tuck into some well deserved peanuts.

Even more people know about Jacko now, he has gone from well known, to bloody famous according to owner Mr Garvey.

I think it’s safe to say, we are all happy about the outcome and hope to catch up with “Jacko” if ever travelling through Drysdale.
