Portarlington, Victoria

Portarlington is a historic coastal township located on the Bellarine Peninsula, 28 km from the city of Geelong, in the state of Victoria, Australia.

Saltwater is a mood in these parts.  The smell of the ocean is in the air everywhere.

Deciding what and where to eat can involve more effort than negotiating a mortgage.  Here are a couple of suggestions that might make the decision easier.  If in doubt, just do them all.

Portarlington Grand Hotel

Restored boutique grand hotel by the sea.  Reduced menu Mon – Tue, bistro lunch and dinner Wed-Sun.

76 Newcombe street, Portarlington

Portarlington Gold Club Restaurant

Portarlington Bakehouse

If a gourmet sanga or pie and sauce is more your style, the Portarlington Bakehouse will definitely get your taste buds screaming.  With cakes galore and freshly baked pastries and breads daily, this is a stop even to just grab a few treats for the trip home. Dine in or take away.

Portarlington Mussels

There’s plenty of local and fresh options to cook up a genuine feast with.  The famous Portarlington Mussels, their farms visible from the town, are available with just harvested freshness.  And there are boats located at Portarlington Pier that take charter tours out and about the bay and mussel farms.

Also for those perhaps wanting to take in more of the bay, the Portarlington Pier offers a ferry service to and from Portarlington Pier to the Docklands daily.
